MEET OUR BOARD
Peter Lewis - chair
Peter was appointed to the Board and as Chair of the Board of McGrath Limited on 19 February 2018. He is currently a non-executive director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Chair of their Audit and Risk Committee, Chair of Dealt Limited, a non-executive director of Pump Group Australia and BoozeBud Holdings and is an advisory board member of Anacacia Capital and Gravity Media Group. Peter previously worked as Chief Financial Officer for the Seven Group of companies for 15 years. Peter holds a Master of Commerce (UNSW), is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants, and a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
Wayne Mo - Board Member
Wayne was appointed to the McGrath Board in June 2018 as the nominee of Aqualand Group, one of Australia’s premier residential property development and investment groups. Wayne is CEO of AL Capital, overseeing the growth of its diversified investment portfolio. He has more than 23 years of global experience in international banking, structured finance, and M & A. Prior to joining AL Capital, Wayne held senior executive roles with ANZ for 15 years and was Chief Investment Officer of Hong Kong listed Everchina International Holding. He holds an MBA from Webster University (USA) and Bachelor of Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and was a Board Director of the Australia China Chamber of Commerce (Beijing) from 2006 to 2008.
JuliaNA Nguyen - Board Member
Juliana was appointed to the McGrath Board in January 2022. Juliana has over 20 years international experience in Marketing, Advertising, Commercial and General Management roles across a wide range of industries with companies at different stages of growth from large multinationals to founder led and tech scale up environments in Australia, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the US. She is a versatile, customer centric, entrepreneurial, people leader specialising in transforming brands and businesses - including her time as Regional Marketing Director, APAC at Airbnb, Marketing Director, ANZ at Nike, Global Chief Marketing Officer at N26 and Managing Director, Vietnam at TBWA\Worldwide. Juliana holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Shane Smollen - Board Member
Shane was appointed to the McGrath Board on 3 September 2020 and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee. Shane was appointed to the McGrath Board with a depth of property experience and a focus on results, leadership and ethics. Having owned one of the country’s leading franchise networks prior to selling to McGrath in 2015, Shane turned his focus to property development. A Director of Central Element, he has been heavily involved in developing premium residential, commercial and hotel projects across Sydney and regional centres. Shane holds a Bachelor of Business from Queensland University of Technology.
John McGrath - Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer
John McGrath is one of the most influential figures in the Australian property industry. He took the company from a lounge room start-up in 1988 to be one of Australia's most successful integrated real estate service groups. John was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in April 2022. In 2008, John was honoured by the Real Estate Institute of NSW with the Woodrow Weight OBE Award, a lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the real estate industry. John was a founding director of the REA Group and served on its board from 1999 to January 2018, and Chairman from 2003 – 2007.

Howard Herman - ChIEf Financial Officer
Howard was appointed Chief Financial Officer of McGrath Limited in June 2019, with over 25 years’ experience in retail, property and public markets. Prior to joining McGrath, Howard was Chief Financial Officer of global apparel business Naked Brand Group Limited, listed on NASDAQ and previously Chief Financial Officer of Speciality Fashion Group, an ASX listed fashion retailer. His experience in the property sector includes finance roles with Bovis Lend Lease in Sydney and Anglo American Properties in Johannesburg, South Africa. Howard holds a Bachelor of Commerce (University of Cape Town) and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (South Africa and Australia).
Anthony Meaker - Commercial Director
Anthony was appointed Commercial Director of McGrath Limited in 2016, having transitioned to the company’s head office team in 2015 upon its listing with the ASX. Prior to that he was Chief Operating Officer of McGrath’s largest franchisee, the Smollen Group for 5 years. Anthony has been immersed in real estate for much of his career after a period at Deloitte, and worked in several positions for the Ray White Group, including COO of Ray White NSW. He applies his experience and training to drive McGrath growth strategies. His love of the industry extends to providing auctioneering services to the business. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Economics (Sydney University) and is a Chartered Accountant. He also holds an MBA (AGSM); and is a graduate of the AICD.
Christopher Mourd - Head of Franchise
Christopher returned to McGrath Limited in June 2017 as Head of Franchise & Network Services, bringing extensive experience in the real estate industry spanning 30 years. Formerly Head of Real Estate and Head of Commercial for LJ Hooker, Christopher was responsible for over 500 offices nationally. Prior to that, he spent over seven years at McGrath in various senior roles with both the franchise and company owned sales divisions, as well as being an accomplished auctioneer.
Michael MurRay - Head of Company Sales
Michael was appointed Head of Company Sales for McGrath Limited in May 2021. He joined the company in 2016 as Sales Manager for one of Sydney’s fastest growing areas of Northern Districts and Hills region, and in 2018 was named the coveted Sales Manager of the Year by the company. Michael moved into the role of acting Head of Sales in late 2019, successfully navigating the sales team through the COVID-19 pandemic. Michael has a wealth of management, coaching and software experience, having also run his own real estate agency. As Head of Company Sales, Michael oversees the performance of all company owned offices located in both QLD and NSW and leads a team of over 350 sales professionals where he will focus on mentoring, training and professional development.
Rob Fearnley - Head of Company owned property management
Rob was appointed Head of Company Owned Property Management for McGrath Limited in September 2017. Rob has 14 years of extensive operational, financial management and strategic experience. He previously worked as the General Manager of Staples, where he led a $250 million dollar business unit, implementing hyper-growth strategies in the group’s Facility Solutions division across Australia and New Zealand. At McGrath, Rob is responsible for overseeing the company-owned property management business across NSW and QLD. Rob holds an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
Nichola Byrne - General Manager of TRET
Nichola joined McGrath Limited in 2011 as a Training and Events Coordinator for Total Real Estate Training (TRET) where she has held several key roles including Event and Exhibitions Manager. Her talent and focus for real estate education and training was recognised when she was promoted to the role of General Manager for the division in 2015. Under Nichola’s leadership, TRET produces a suite of events, including AREC (Australasian Real Estate Conference) which is the largest Real Estate Conference in the Southern Hemisphere.
